In his first season as the hitting coach, the Orange put together one of its best offensive seasons in the 15-year program history. The squad batted a school-record.290 while also setting program-bests with a .487 slugging percentage and .376 on-base percentage, with the former two ranking into top four of the Atlantic Coast Conference. With Nandin mentoring the hitters, Syracuse saw its batting average and slugging percentage rise by 64 and 89 points, respectively, from 2013. Additionally, in ACC only-games, SU ranked in the top four in all three categories, including third in batting average at .314 in league contests.
Syracuse also set program-highs averagining nearly 1.2 homers and just under 1.5 doubles per game. The 5.1 runs per game was also the second-best total in school history, only behind the 5.4 runs per game aveage from the 2011 team that advanced to the NCAA Regionals. The runs per game increased by just over one per game from 2013. Under the guidance of Nandin, Syracuse also saw its lowest strikeout total in five years.
Nandin spent the past three seasons as the Assistant Coach at his alma mater, Le Moyne. Although he assisted in all aspects of the baseball program, Nandin’s primary responsibility was working with infielders and hitters. Alongside his duties at Le Moyne, Nandin was also responsible for all baseball aspects at Homerun Softball & Baseball in Syracuse, which included private instruction.
Upon graduating, Nandin signed a professional contract with the American Defenders of the Can-Am League. Following a brief stop in Columbia, where as an All-Star second baseman he helped lead Caimanes De Barranquilla to the Colombian Winter League Championship, Nandin returned to the United States as a member of the Pittsfield Colonials where he played for two seasons. In his first season with the Colonials, Nandin was an All-Star at shortstop and led the league with 25 doubles, while ranking third in hits (118), fourth in batting average (.321) and fifth in stolen bases (25).
He split the 2012 season between the Rockland Boulders and the New Jersey Jackals before being re-acquired by the Boulders for 2013. After winning the Can-Am League Championship in 2014, finishing in the top 10 in league batting average, runs scored, hits, doubles, hit by pitch and leading all second basemen in fielding percentage (.988), Nandin decided to hang up the cleats after six years of playing in the pros. A career batting average of .288 led Coach Nandin to the Can-Am League record book where he's locked in at sixth all-time in doubles and ninth in runs scored and hits. Â Â
A Syracuse native, Nandin was a four-year starter for the Dolphins. He batted .305 during his four-year career and ranks 15th in Le Moyne history with 179 games played. Defensively, Nandin ranks third in the school’s history with 471 assists and 89 doubles plays turned. As a junior, Nandin led the team with 76 hits and 223 at bats, which rank sixth and fifth, respectively, on the single-season records list. That same season, Nandin garnered national honors as the All-Independent team shortstop while batting a career-best .341.
Nandin graduated from Le Moyne College in 2009 with a degree in Business Administration.
