
Liwski Selected as an Alternate to the 2004 U.S. Olympic Rowing Team

Chris Liwski, a 2002 graduate of Syracuse University and former captain of the Orange crew team, was named an alternate to the 2004 United States Olympic Rowing Team, announced by USRowing on July 7. The squad will compete at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece from August 14-22.
The Sarasota, Florida native has progressed in the sport of rowing through his affiliation with the Princeton Training Center. Of the 55 individuals named to the U.S. team (including alternates), 44 of them are affiliated with the Princeton Training Center.
Liwski has already experienced international competition. He was a member of the U.S. men's eight that won a championship at the 2002 Nation's Cup. He helped the U.S. men's eight to a championship at the 2003 Pan-American Games, and he was selected to the U.S. men's eight at the World Under-23 Regatta.
Fourteen events will be contested at this year's Olympic Games in the sport of rowing, with the U.S. racing in 12. The U.S. is entered in the women's single sculls, men's double sculls, lightweight men's double sculls, lightweight women's double sculls, men's quadruple sculls, women's quadruple sculls, men's pair, women's pair, men's four, lightweight men's four, men's eight, and women's eight. The U.S. did not qualify boats in the men's single sculls or women's double sculls.
At the 2000 Olympic Games, the U.S. won three medals including a silver in the men's pair, a bronze in the women's pair, and a bronze in the lightweight women's double sculls.
