2013-14 Women's Basketball Schedule
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Seven games at the Carrier Dome and three trips west of the Mississippi highlight the Syracuse women's basketball non-conference schedule in 2013-14. With its three games at the previously announced Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Island, the Orange will play a total of 13 games before opening its inaugural ACC slate.
Â
Head coach Quentin Hillsman's Orange will play seven of its 13 non-conference games against major conference programs: Memphis and Temple from the American, Iowa from the Big Ten, Texas from the Big 12, Arizona State and Washington State from the Pac-12, and Texas A&M from the SEC.
Â
Three of the opponents are coming off NCAA Tournament seasons: Iowa, Saint Joseph's and Texas A&M.
Â
Coming off a NCAA Tournament appearance of its own and a No. 22 final ranking last season, Syracuse opens 2013-14 on Sunday, Nov. 10 at Washington State. The game is one of two road contests against Pac-12 programs. SU closes its non-conference schedule on Monday, Dec. 30 at Arizona State.
Â
Syracuse hosts its home-opener at the Carrier Dome on Thursday, Nov. 14 against Dartmouth, kicking off a four-game homestand in which it will also face Cornell (Nov. 18), Maryland Eastern Shore (Nov. 20) and Maine (Nov. 24).
Â
On Thanksgiving week, the Orange heads to St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands for the Paradise Jam, where it will meet Texas on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 28), Memphis (Nov. 29) and Texas A&M (Nov. 30).
Â
After returning to the mainland, SU goes to Iowa City, Iowa to face the Hawkeyes in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Dec. 5. That game leads into a three-game home stretch at the Dome that features games against Temple (Dec. 16), Niagara (Dec. 19) and Saint Joseph's (Dec. 21) before the non-conference finale at Arizona State on Dec. 30.
Â
Syracuse opens its inaugural ACC season on Jan. 5 at NC State and hosts its first conference game on Jan. 9 vs. Duke. The Orange's ACC schedule was announced on Aug. 28.
