Syracuse sophomore Kayla Treanor has been added to the U.S. women's lacrosse roster for the upcoming Stars and Stripes weekend. The event takes place on Oct. 12 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md. and Oct. 13 at Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, Md.
Treanor earned All-America First Team accolades as a freshman after recording 95 points. She led the squad with 71 goals and dished out 24 assists. Treanor became the highest scoring freshman in program history and ranked second in the nation in goals scored. She earned a spot on the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship All-Tournament team and was a first-team All-BIG EAST honoree. In addition, Treanor was named the Most Valuable Player of the BIG EAST Tournament.
Stars and Stripes weekend won't be Treanor's first experience playing for Team USA. She was a member of the gold-medal winning team in the 2011 U19 World Championship. This will be her first time playing with the senior national team.
Team USA will face four college squads in two days during the Stars and Stripes weekend, taking on Navy and Georgetown on Oct. 12 before playing Stanford and Towson the following day.
