Ranked No. 24 in preseason projections
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's basketball team was ranked No. 24 in the country in the USA TODAY Sports Weekly Special Edition College Basketball Preview, which hit newsstands on Monday, Oct. 7.

The USA TODAY Sports Weekly Special Edition College Basketball Preview provides projections and analysis heading into the 2014-15 men's and women's basketball seasons. USA TODAY Sports' Tess Quinlan projected the preseason Top 25 teams in women's basketball.

Syracuse was one of five Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) teams to be ranked by USA TODAY. Notre Dame was ranked No. 2, North Carolina came in at No. 7, Duke was ninth, and Louisville was ranked No. 11. In addition, Syracuse will face at least seven teams, potentially eight, ranked in this rankings release.

The Orange finished the 2013-14 season with a 23-10 overall mark and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. Syracuse returns its top two scorers from a year ago in junior guards Brittney Sykes and Brianna Butler.

The Syracuse women's basketball team opens the season on Sunday, Nov. 16 when it hosts Fordham in the Carrier Dome. Opening tipoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
