Syracuse earns AFCA Academic Achievement Honors for 21st time
For the 21st time since the AFCA Academic Achievement Award began in 1981, the Syracuse football program was honored by the organization for its academic success.
The Orange earned honorable mention honors this season, the 20th time it received such honor, which ranks seventh among all FBS programs.
The award recognizes the FBS team with the highest graduation rate annually, with honorable mention honors handed out to programs who graduate more than 75-percent of its student-athletes.
Syracuse won the award in 2000 in addition to its 20 honorable mentions.
The award is presented annually by the Touchdown Club of Memphis and is based on the NCAA's Graduation Success Rate (GSR) formula to select the winner.
The AFCA Academic Achievement Award is the latest academic honor for the Orange this season, as senior long snapper Sam Rodgers was previously selected to the AFCA Allstate Good Works Team and was a CoSida Academic All-District Selection for the third time. He is also a Wuerffel Senior linebacker Cameron Lynch was also named to the CoSida Academic All-District Team this year.
