GAME OVERVIEW
• Syracuse hosts Duke for the first time at the Carrier Dome in its home regular-season finale Saturday, Nov. 8 at 12:30 p.m.
• The game will be televised on RSN. Wes Durham (pxp), James Bates (analyst) and Jenn Hildreth (sidelines) have the call. Coincidentally, the Orange is 6-1 since joining the ACC when competing on the RSN airwaves.
• The Orange is 3-6 overall and needs to win out to become bowl eligible.
• At 7-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference, the Blue Devils have already qualified for the postseason and currently sit atop the ACC Coastal Division standings.

• The Cross Country team will be honored for its ACC Championship last week.Â
SALUTING THE SENIORS
• Saturday is Senior Day at the Carrier Dome. They are: Adonis Ameen-Moore, Luke Arciniega, Travon Burke, Clay Cleveland, Eric Crume, Dyshawn Davis, Ritchy Desir, Durell Eskridge, Adrian Flemming, Quinta Funderburk, Jaston George, Prince-Tyson Gulley, Keenan Hale, Sean Hickey, Darius Kelly, Josh Kirkland, Jeremiah Kobena, Cameron Lynch, John Miller, Joe Nassib, Brandon Reddish, Micah Robinson, Sam Rodgers, Ryan Sloan, Greg Tobias, Trevon Trejo, Robert Welsh, Jarrod West, Jesse Wolf-Gould and Steve Fantigrossi (mgr.).
Â
IMPROVING IN YEAR 2
• The Syracuse is defense is finding its stride in its second year under coordinator Chuck Bullough.
• The Orange has at least one sack in every game this season and one in 10 straight contests dating back to last year's Texas Bowl versus Minnesota.
• Syracuse is on pace to surrender eight rushing touchdowns in 2014, which would be the lowest total for the team since 1996 and the four other Orange squads (1957, 1960, 1962, 1963) for the eighth-fewest in school history.
• Just two 2014 opponents (Notre Dame, Florida State) have topped 400 yards of offense versus the Orange. Both have been ranked in the top 10 of the national polls most of the year.
Â
THE DUKE SERIES
• Duke has won the only two games in the series, both of which occurred prior to World War II.
• In 1938, the seventh-ranked and undefeated Iron Dukes came to Syracuse and shut out Ossie Solem's Orange, 21-0, at Archbold Stadium.
• An interesting note about the 1938 pairing. At the time there was a so-called gentlemen's agreement that saw Northern teams bench black players when facing Southern opponents. Duke coach WallaceWade accepted the presence of Syracuse QB Wilmeth Sidat-Singh, who was African-American and held out of the Orange's game at Maryland the previous year, saying "If he doesn't play, no matter what the score is, we'll get no credit for winning."
• In 1939, Syracuse lost in Durham, 33-6, to the 13th-ranked Blue Devils. George McAfee scored three touchdowns for Duke.
Â
SYRACUSE-DUKE CONNECTIONS
• Duke features 5 players from New York – Danny Fowler (Wantagh), Christian Conway (Bronxville), Jackson Conway (Bronxville), Kyle Wellner (Mill Neck), and Thomas Hennessey (Bardonia)
• Orange TE PJ Batten and Duke WR Terrence Alls both attended Miami's Dade Christian School.
• 'Cuse CB Juwan Dowels, TE Tyler Provo and Duke DT Edgar Cerenord all played at American Heritage in Miami, Fla.
Â
FIRST-TIMERS
• Dukes is the 62nd different team to visit the Carrier Dome since it opened in 1980.
• The Orange is 37-23-1 (.615) when facing a team making its first trip to the Loud House, including a 1-0 mark this season. Syracuse defeated Villanova in the Wildcats' Dome debut, 27-26, in two overtimes.
Â
A WIN AGAINST DUKE WOULD …
• Be SU's 709th all-time victory, tied with Virginia Tech for the 16th-most among FBS schools.
• Keep the Orange in contention for a potential bowl berth.
• Make Syracuse 4-1 all-time in Dome games played on Nov. 8.
• Increase the team's record to 2-0 against first-time Dome foes in 2014.
• End Duke's three-game winning streak.
