Four Earn Preseason All-America Honors From Inside Lacrosse

Orange is ranked No. 4 in the publication's preseason poll.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse junior Kayla Treanor has been named a preseason first-team All-American by Inside Lacrosse. In addition, seniors Kailah Kempney and Mallory Vehar and junior Maddy Huegel are honorable mention All-America picks, which were released in Inside Lacrosse's annual Face-Off Yearbook.

The Orange is ranked fourth in the publication's preseason poll. Defending national champion Maryland is No. 1, followed by North Carolina and Florida. Virginia, Duke, Boston College, Northwestern, Notre Dame and Ohio State round out the top 10.

Treanor led the nation in scoring with 117 points and was second in goals with a school-record 79 in 2014. She was a finalist for both the Tewaaraton Award and the Honda Sports Award. Treanor earned IWLCA All-America First Team honors and was voted the IWLCA Attacker of the Year as well as the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Offensive Player of the Year. The All-ACC First Team honoree was also a member of the NCAA and ACC All-Tournament teams. Treanor ranks seventh on Syracuse's all-time scoring list (212 pts.) and is sixth in career goals (150) and tied for seventh in career assists (62).

Kempney recorded a school-record 107 draw controls last season, giving her 253 in her career. She is the only player in school history to have 200 draw controls in her career. Kempney also scored 24 goals and dished out a career-high 12 assists in 2014.

Vehar started 22 games last season and recorded career highs in ground balls (32), caused turnovers (15) and draw controls (7). She also dished out the first three assists of her career. Huegel was also a key member of the Orange's defense last season. She posted 19 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. In addition, Huegel was second on the team with 44 draw controls. Vehar and Huegel helped the Orange hold its opponents to less than 10 goals 14 times last season.

Syracuse finished the 2014 season with a 21-3 record and claimed a share of the ACC regular-season title in its first year in the league. The Orange advanced to the national championship game for the second time in school history.
