Orange Picked Third in ACC Coaches Poll

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse women's lacrosse is picked to finish third in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in a vote by the league's head coaches. In addition, senior Alyssa Murray and sophomore Kayla Treanor were two of 10 student-athletes voted to the Preseason All-ACC Team.
The Orange earned two first-place votes and 53 points, finishing just one point behind 2013 national runner up Maryland. The Terrapins also received two first-place votes and 54 points. Defending national champion North Carolina is the preseason favorite after receiving four first-place votes and 60 points. Duke was picked fourth, followed by Virginia, Notre Dame, Boston College and Virginia Tech.
Murray led the Orange in scoring last season and finished fourth in the nation with 104 points. She was a Tewaaraton Award finalist and earned IWLCA First Team All-America honors. Treanor also was a first-team IWLCA All-American. She finished second in the nation in goals (71) and sixth in points (95) in her rookie campaign. Both are the highest totals for a freshman in program history.
Syracuse began the season with a pair of victories in Florida. SU defeated Jacksonville, 21-7, and Stetson, 25-0. The Orange takes on Canisius in its home opener on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Fans can purchase a "Lax Pack" ticket package for $25, which includes 10 general admission tickets that can be used as a season ticket or as a group ticket package. Individual game tickets can be purchased for $5.
