SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Over the coming weeks, Syracuse field hockey head coach Ange Bradley is announcing the program's 2014 signing class. Be sure to check Cuse.com as the Orange unveils its incoming class one-by-one.
Â
"I am very excited to welcome the Class of 2018 to our Syracuse Field Hockey Family," Bradley said. "This class has decided to join a university which offers excellence both in the classroom and on the field. This is a powerful recruiting class that will offer speed to our line-up, skill and a high level of hockey knowledge. This class represents five states and two countries; they are diverse and ready to help us pursue an ACC and NCAA championship. I cannot wait to help them develop and leave a legacy for future Syracuse Field Hockey student-athletes. There are many firsts that this class can achieve as a unit. On behalf of the Syracuse Athletic Department and our extended community please welcome the class of 2018 to our Syracuse family."
In the first installment, Bradley announces the signing of Caroline Cady of Clifton Park, N.Y. to a National Letter of Intent.
Â
Cady, an explosive 5-1 forward, was a three-year varsity player at Shenendehowa High School under head coach Jeanne Frevola. She tallied 48 total points in her career on 18 goals and 12 assists, while helping lead her team to three Section II Championships (2010, 2011, 2013).
Â
"As soon as a stepped on the campus, I knew Syracuse was the right school for me," Cady said. "At Syracuse, I know I will be pushed to my highest potential both as an athlete and a student, which is extremely important to me."
Â
As a senior in 2013, Cady led her team to a 20-2 record, scored 11 goals and assisted on eight others as Shen when the Sectional, Regional and New York State Championship in Class A.
Â
"Caroline comes from a winning background and she knows the competitive level and commitment that is needed to win at the highest level," Bradley said. "Her experience as a 100 and 200 meter sprinter will add to the speed of our front line. Caroline is fast aggressive and very competitive. I expect her to contribute immediately on the forward line."
Â
Cady won Suburban Council, Section II and Saratogian All-Star honors in both 2012 and 2013, and is a 12-time Scholar Athlete Award winner.
Â
"Caroline's explosive speed and aggressive play make her a threat on the field," Frevola said. "Her toughness, competitive drive and desire to excel are attributes that make her stand out."
Â
She has played club field hockey for ADK since 2010, winning pool championships at the National Field Hockey Festival in 2012 and 2013. A National Futures participant in 2013, Cady was selected for the Futures Elite as well.
Â
Cady also stars on the track for Shenendehowa, competing on the varsity team since seventh grade. A sprinter, she specializes in the 100 and 200 meters, as well as the 4x100 relay.
