SYRACUSE, N.Y. - For the first time in program history, the Syracuse women's basketball team is heading to the NCAA Tournament in consecutive seasons. The sixth-seeded Orange (22-9) earned an at-large bid and will play No. 11 seeded Chattanooga on Saturday, March 22 at 1:30 p.m. in Lexington, Ky. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
The winner of Saturday's game will play the winner of No. 3 seed Kentucky and No. 14 seed Wright State on Monday, March 24.
This will be the first meeting between the Orange and the Mocs.
Syracuse's No. 6 seed ties the highest in school history and its best since the tournament was expanded to 64 schools.
This is the Orange's sixth NCAA Tournament appearance and third under eighth-year head coach Quentin Hillsman (2008, 2013).

TERRIFIC 2013-14 SEASON CONTINUES
Syracuse is enjoying one of the best seasons in the program's history, heading into the tournament with a 22-9 overall record, a fifth-place 10-6 mark in its first ACC campaign and a No. 25 ranking in the latest NCAA RPI.
Besides playing its inaugural ACC season, the Orange also played challenging non-conference schedule, going 11-2 highlighted by a win over No. 12/11 Texas A&M (78-63) on Nov. 30 to complete a 3-0 trip and win the Paradise Jam Reef Division title in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The Orange has won four wins over RPI top 25 teams (No. 14 Texas A&M, at No. 21 North Carolina, No. 22 Saint Joseph's and No. 24 Texas), three of which were either on the road or a neutral site, and a total of nine wins against the RPI top 100. All nine of its losses have come to teams that are No. 39 or better in the RPI.
All-ACC Second Team selection Brittney Sykes leads the Orange in scoring at 16.7 points per game. The sophomore is joined in the backcourt by classmate Brianna Butler, the ACC leader in 3-pointers with 97 in 31 games who averages 14.6 ppg. Senior point guard Rachel Coffey boasts the best assist-to-turnover ratio in the ACC at 2.2 (124-56), while senior center Shakeya Leary is the team's top rebounder (7.4 rpg) and shot blocker (43) to go with her 8.0 ppg.
