Courtney Brosnan and Ireland U19 team qualifies for European Championship
Goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan recently traveled to Holland as part of the Ireland U19 squad for the elite qualifying phase for the U19 European Championship. In the elite qualifying phase, the top 24 teams were split into six groups of four teams each. The six group winners advance, along with the top runners up, and they join hosts Norway as the eight finalists.
Brosnan, who enrolled at Syracuse in January, played in all three matches in Holland and posted a shutout in each game. Ireland won 1-0 against Austria, tied 0-0 against Holland, and won 1-0 against Turkey. Ireland was tied with Holland on top of Group 5. Holland finished first based on goal differential and Ireland also goes through with a 2-0-1 record and top runners up.
The European Champonship will be held July 15-27 in Norway.
