Cammock, Knapp Take Home Orange Scholar-Athlete Honor

Sabrina Cammock of the women's track and field team and Kyle Knapp from the football squad earned Orange Scholar-Athlete of the Week honors on Monday for their impressive performances in competition and in the classroom.
Cammock, a junior, is a member of the school-record setting 4x100-meter relay team. In its first outing of the season, Georgia Tech's Yellow Jacket Invitational, the group bested Syracuse's previous mark by nearly two tenths of a second, setting a new time of 45.37 seconds in the Orange record book. She has also set two personal records so far this season, running career best times in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash. She has been named to the Syracuse Athletic Director's Honor Roll in each of her last three semesters and was named to the 2012-13 BIG EAST All-Academic Team. A member of the David B. Falk School of Sport and Human Dynamics, Cammock is working toward a degree in public health.
Knapp, a sophomore, has been a member of the football team as an offensive lineman for the last two seasons. After redshirting during his freshman year, he made his collegiate debut at Florida State and went on to play in four more games including in the Texas Bowl victory against Minnesota. Knapp has been named to the Syracuse Athletic Director's Honor Roll in all three of his completed semesters at SU and was a member of the 2012 BIG EAST All-Academic Team. A member of the Whitman School of Management, Knapp is working toward a degree in management.
Cammock and the track and field team head to Chapel Hill, N.C. this weekend to take on the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championship, beginning on Thursday, April 17.
The football team finishes its spring practices with its annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 19 at 1 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Doors will open at 10 a.m. and the team will take the field at 11:30 a.m. for pre-game stretch and warmup. There is no admission charge and parking is free in all Stadium West lots. Coupons for a free hot dog and soda will be distributed at the gates, while supplies last.
