Game is the first of a home-and-home series with the Tigers.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse Orange will host the LSU Tigers on Sept. 26, 2015 at the Carrier Dome, the first game of a two-game series between the two schools. The second game in the series will be played on Sept. 9, 2017 at LSU's Tiger Stadium.
"We are thrilled to enter into this home-and-home agreement with a premiere program like LSU. Student-athletes come to Syracuse to play on the biggest stage possible, and this gives our coaches and young men the chance to battle one of the standard-bearers of the SEC on our home turf," said Dr. Daryl Gross, Syracuse Director of Athletics. "It is a complicated process to arrange games of this magnitude, and I couldn't be happier for our fans and for all who will be involved in this upcoming series."
The meeting will be the first regular-season contest between the two schools, however Syracuse and LSU have met in two bowl games – the 1989 Hall of Fame Bowl in which Syracuse won by a score of 23-10 and the 1965 Sugar Bowl, won by LSU 13-10.
"It is a great opportunity to match the tradition of our program against the storied tradition of LSU," said head coach Scott Shafer. "As members of the Atlantic Coast Conference we play some of the best teams in the country. This is a chance for our student-athletes to play against the one of best outside of our conference. I know they will be juiced up to have the opportunity for our fans to come to the Carrier Dome to watch some great football in a matchup of the ACC and the SEC."
Syracuse opens the 2014 season against Villanova on Friday, August 29. To celebrate the excitement in the program, Shafer announced today the 'Coach Shafer Buyout' for the opener. For every ticket purchased for the Villanova game, Shafer will buy an additional ticket for that fan. The offer includes season tickets already purchased.
All Orange fans are invited to purchase or renew 2014 Syracuse football season tickets, which start at $99, or purchase a three-game package that includes Villanova, Florida State and a third home game in the Dome of the fan's choice ($125 per package). In addition, discounted group tickets (20+), with prices as low as $10 each, are available for all home games. Tickets can be purchased online, by phone (1-888-DOMETIX), or by visiting the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B).
