Murray and Treanor Named Tewaaraton Award Nominees

Alyssa Murray and Kayla Treanor are among 27 nominees for the award.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Syracuse senior Alyssa Murray and sophomore Kayla Treanor are two of 27 nominees for the 2014 women's Tewaaraton Award, which is presented to the top college lacrosse player in the nation. The list was announced on Friday, April 25 by the Tewaaraton Foundation. The five finalists will be selected from the list of nominees and honored May 29 in Washington, D.C.
Murray was a finalist for the Tewaaraton Award last season. She is the just the second player in program history to record 300 points, 200 goals and 100 assists in her career. Murray, an All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) First Team honoree, leads the Orange in assists (33) and is second in points (79) and goals (46). In the latest NCAA statistics she ranks seventh in the nation in points and 14th in points per game. Murray is tied for third on Syracuse's career leader lists for points and assists and is tied for third on the all-time goals scored list.
Treanor is Syracuse's leading scorer with 95 points on 63 goals and 32 assists. She netted her 100th career goal earlier this season, reaching the milestone faster than any player in program history. Treanor has scored five or more goals in four games this season, including a career-high seven goals against North Carolina during the regular season. She ranks second in the country in points and points per game, third in goals and fifth in goals per game. Treanor was voted to the All-ACC First Team in a vote by the league's head coaches.
