The Syracuse women's soccer team concluded its spring season going undefeated and just giving up just one goal in four matches.
After securing the first- and third-place finishes among its split squads on March 1 in a six-team 7 v. 7 tournament, Syracuse went outdoors for the first time to play 11 v. 11 and took on Binghamton on March 29. After going a goal down in the second half, Syracuse responded with Erin Simon being pulled down on a breakaway and Jackie Firenze converting the resulting penalty kick for the 1-1 tie.
On April 5 the Orange played two 45-minutes halves against the Western New York Flash and Colgate. Syracuse was able to hold the professional NWSL Flash to a scoreless draw. In the other match Syracuse defeated Colgate 1-0 with Stephanie Skilton providing the game winner. Syracuse plays at Colgate on September 11.
The Orange then defeated Albany 2-0 on April 12. Simon scored the game-winner with Skilton providing the insurance goal late. Syracuse returns to Albany this fall on August 29.
Syracuse ended the spring slate on April 29 with a 2-0 win against Canisius. Alexis Koval and Maya Pitts provided the firepower and goalkeepers Mackenzie Moranz and Courtney Brosnan combined with their backline to hold steady for another shutout.
Syracuse ends the spring 3-0-2 in its outdoor 11 v 11 games, outscoring its opponents, 6-1. The Orange brings in seven freshmen in the #17 rated class in the country as ranked by TopDrawerSoccer. Players return on August 5 to begin preseason training on August 6. After an August 16 home scrimmage against Binghamton, the season begins on August 22 against Missouri at the Penn State tournament as the Orange prepares for its second season in the ACC.
