Ward Earns Scholar All-America Honors

Midfielder Billy Ward excels on the field and in the classroom
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – A leader for the Orange on and off the field, senior captain Billy Ward was named to the 2014 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Scholar All-America Team on Tuesday, May 20. Ward is the fifth player in school history to receive the honor and fourth in the last seven years.

SU's top scoring midfielder, Ward finished the season with 26 points on 18 goals and eight assists. He registered five multi-goal games in 2014, including hat tricks in wins versus Albany and North Carolina.
In 57 career games, Ward totaled 32 goals and 22 assists. He was selected to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team three times and named to the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll (min. 3.0 GPA) every semester during his career.
Ward joins Joe Ceglia (2000), Mike Leveille (2008), Matt Abbott (2009) and John Galloway (2011) as Orange standouts who have received the prestigious honor.
The USILA Scholar All-America program began in 1989 to recognize student-athletes who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically and as citizens in their communities. To be eligible, individuals must be a senior nominated by their coach and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale). In addition, they must be either a USILA All-American, a member of a USILA North/South team or an outstanding league or conference player.
