Emma Russell and the Ireland U21 field hockey team advanced to the championship round of the EuroHockey Junior Championship
Syracuse field hockey's Emma Russell has helped lead Ireland's U21 national team advance from group play and into the championship round of the EuroHockey Junior Championship II in Vienna, Austria.
The Orange's rising junior forward started both of the group stage contests for the Irish, a 7-0 win over Lithuania, and a 3-3 draw with Scotland, to help Ireland advance on goal differential over Scotland, who also finished 1-0-1.
Ireland, the Group C winner, will next square off with Group B's winner Ukraine on Saturday and Group A's winner Italy on Sunday, with the combined results determining the overall champion.
