
Seven Named to All-ACC Academic Track and Field Teams

Erb, Harrison, Hehir, Kamyszek, Malone, Pagano and Straneva honored for academic success
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Seven members of the SU track and field teams, three women and four men, have been named to the All-ACC Track and Field Academic Teams. Sophomores M.J. Erb, Shaina Harrison and Margo Malone, juniors Martin Hehir and Max Straneva and seniors Reed Kamyszek and Sarah Pagano were named to the teams Commissioner John Swofford announced on Wednesday, July 2.

Kamyszek, Hehir and Malone were previously named to the All-ACC Cross Country Academic Teams for head coach Chris Fox this year.
Erb competed in 3,000-meter steeplechase for the Orange the NCAA East Regional taking 19th, after winning silver in the event at the ACC Championships. The sophomore also competed in the 5,000-meters at the ACC Championships taking 13th place in a new personal-best time of 14:18.20.
Harrison, a silver medalist in the 100-meter dash at the ACC Championships, represented SU in the event at the NCAA Championships. She took 22nd in the event at the meet, setting a new personal best of 11.53 seconds.
The ACC Champion in the 10,000-meters, Hehir placed fourth at the NCAA East Regional and finished 21st at the NCAA Championships in the event. The junior also took silver in the 5,000-meters at the ACC Championships. He was also named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team for the second-straight year.
Kamyszek finished fourth behind Hehir in the 10,000-meters at the ACC Championships and raced to a 25th place finish at the NCAA East Regional. The senior set a new personal best of 29:08.84 in the event at the Stanford Invitational this year.
Malone, who picked up bronze medals in both the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter runs at the ACC Championships, qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 10,000-meters where she finished 19th. Her 10,000-meter time of 33:15.02 at the ACC Championships was not only a personal best, but also a school record in the event.
The top-finisher for the Orange at the NCAA Championships, Pagano raced to a seventh place finish in the 10,000-meter run, an event she took sixth in at the ACC Championships. She also set a new school record in the 5,000-meters (15:48.87) at the Stanford Invitational.
Straneva took eighth in the 5,000-meter run at the ACC Championships. He also raced to a fifth place finish in the event at the Stanford Invitational and finished seventh at the Payton Jordan Invitational, which was also hosted by Stanford, this season.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade-point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative GPA during their academic career.
