
Orange Recruiting Class Ranked Sixth by Inside Lacrosse

Three were among the top 30 recruits in the nation.
BALTIMORE, Md. – Syracuse is ranked No. 6 overall by Inside Lacrosse in its annual recruiting issue. Three members of the Orange recruiting class are ranked among the top 30 of freshmen in the nation.
Kathy Rudkin, a defenseman from San Diego Calif., is ranked No. 23. In high school, Rudkin earned 12 varsity letters as a four-year starter in three different sports. She served as captain of all three sports her junior and senior year. In addition to earning All-League and All-Conference honors in both lacrosse and basketball, Rudkin was voted MYP in lacrosse and basketball her junior and senior years.
Ella Hogan, a defenseman/midfielder from Rochester N.Y., earned the No. 26 ranking. Hogan played lacrosse all four years in high school where she recorded 69 goals, 51 assists and 164 ground balls. She was voted MVP in lacrosse her junior and senior year. Hogan participated in many other sports, playing volleyball her sophomore year, indoor track her junior year and golf her senior year.
Neena Merola, a midfielder from Corning, N.Y., came in at No. 30 in the rankings. In high school, Merola posted 219 goals and 85 assists for a total of 304 points. She earned All-American honors and was voted first-team All-Leader her junior and senior year. Merola was a member of the National Honors Society and served as a team captain her senior year.
All three were named Under Armour All-Americans and participated in the Under Armour All-American Classic in July. Hogan started for the North squad and recorded two draw controls and two ground balls. Merola also played on the North squad and had one caused turnover. Rudkin started on defense for the South.
