Murrell Earns National Recognition

Senior named to College Soccer News National Team of the Week
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After organizing an Orange defense that posted two shutouts to open the season, senior Jordan Murrell earned a spot on the College Soccer News National Team of the Week Monday, Sept. 1.

Murrell was named the Central New York Classic Defensive MVP for his performance against Niagara and St. Mary's (Calif.) over the weekend. He anchored an Orange unit that surrendered just five shots (one on goal) in the two matches. He also tallied four points, recording an assist in SU's 3-0 victory versus Niagara Aug. 29, and contributing one goal and one assist in a 3-0 victory against the Gaels on Sunday. Murrell played 166 out of a possible 180 minutes in the two games and was a constant threat on corner kicks and set pieces.
Murrell and the Orange travel to Rutgers on Thursday, Sept. 4 to take on the Scarlet Knights. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Yurcak Field.
