Volunteered at Woodland Elementary School
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's basketball team took time to give back to the community on Friday morning. Members of the team volunteered their time at Woodland Elementary School in East Syracuse.
The morning began with an assembly where the team was introduced to the school. Following introductions, junior guard Brianna Butler went head-to-head with the school's principal Tom Colabufo in a free throw competition. Butler came away with the victory against Colabufo, who had to wear an SU headband for the remainder of the day.
Members of the squad then broke into groups of two or three and began visiting individual classrooms. The team read, answered questions, and signed autographs for classes from kindergarten to sixth grade.
Syracuse opens the 2014 season on Sunday, Nov. 16 against Fordham in the Carrier Dome. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
