Orange to Face U.S. National Team in Exhibitions Saturday

Syracuse will face seven either current or former members of the Orange when it takes on Team USA.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse takes the field for the first time in 2015 when it takes on the U.S women's national team in a doubleheader on Saturday, Jan. 17 in Naples, Fla. The first match will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by the second at 7:30 p.m. Â

The Orange won a school-record 21 games in 2014 and advanced to the national championship game for the second time in school history. Syracuse returns five of its top six scorers from last season when the Orange led the nation in scoring.

Junior Kayla Treanor was the individual scoring champion last season with 117 points. She will play for the U.S. national team this weekend, as will six former members of the Orange, including Becca Block '13, Liz Hogan '11, Kasey Mock '14, Alyssa Murray '14, Michelle Tumolo '13 and Katie Webster '14.

The national team will also take on defending NCAA champion Maryland in a double header on Sunday, Jan. 18. The U.S women's team will also face off against Stetson University and Rollins College in single-game match-ups.

Syracuse officially opens the 2015 season on Feb. 7 when it hosts Denver at noon and Canisius at 7:30 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
