GREENSBORO, N.C. – The 2015-16 Syracuse University women's basketball team was picked to finish in fifth place in the Atlantic Coast Conference, the league announced at its annual media day event on Wednesday morning. It marks the highest the program has been predicted to finish since joining the conference in 2013.
Â
Both the Blue Ribbon Panel and the coaches selected the Orange as the fifth-best team in the league. In fact, both groups produced the same results in their predicted order of finish for the 2015-16 season. Notre Dame is the preseason favorite, while Florida State, Louisville, and Duke round out the top four, respectively.
Â
Junior guard Alexis Peterson was one of 10 players selected to the Preseason All-ACC Team. Similar to the preseason polls, the Blue Ribbon Panel and coaches both honored the same 10 players in their preseason all-conference teams. Peterson was one of seven players on the preseason all-league team who were recognized as All-ACC by the Blue Ribbon Panel and coaches a year ago.
Â
Sophomore forward Brianna Turner of Notre Dame was selected as the Preseason ACC Player of the Year by both the Blue Ribbon Panel and coaches. A newcomer watch list was also selected by the Blue Ribbon Panel and coaches.
Â
Head coach Quentin Hillsman, senior guard Brianna Butler, and redshirt junior guard Brittney Sykes will participated in the 2015 ACC Women's Basketball Media Day on Wednesday afternoon. Follow along on Cuse.com for updates from the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C.
