
Orange Earns Highest Preseason Rank in History

Syracuse checks in at No. 23 nationally in first AP Poll
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The 2015-16 Syracuse University women's basketball team was ranked No. 23 in the nation in the Preseason Associated Press Poll, as announced on Tuesday morning. It marks the highest Syracuse has appeared in the first release of either major national poll in program history.

For the second straight year, the Orange women's basketball team has appeared in the top 25 of the Preseason AP Poll. Last season marked the first time Syracuse cracked the top 25 of the first AP rankings, checking in at No. 24.

Three-time defending champion Connecticut open the season as the preseason favorite, earning all 32 first-place votes. South Carolina, Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Baylor round out the top five, respectively.

The Atlantic Coast Conference leads the nation with six member programs ranked in the top 25 of the Preseason AP Poll. Notre Dame, Florida State, Louisville, Duke, North Carolina, and Syracuse all appeared in the top 25 of the initial rankings release.

SU will play eight teams that appeared in the top 25 of the first AP Poll. The Orange will play nine teams that received votes in the preseason rankings. Syracuse will play No. 4 Tennessee in its second contest of the year on Friday, Nov. 20 in Knoxville, Tenn.

The squad will open its 2015-16 campaign on Friday, Nov. 13 at Rhode Island. Tipoff is slated for 5:00 p.m. in Kingston, R.I.

Tickets for the 2015-16 Syracuse home slate are now available. Fans can catch the Orange 16 times in the friendly confines of the Carrier Dome this upcoming year. Tickets can be purchased online, by phone at 1-888-DOMETIX, or by visiting the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B) during normal business hours.
