Orange Ranked Fourth in Final Coaches Poll

Syracuse recorded its highest finish in the year-end poll in program history.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Syracuse is ranked No. 4 in the final National Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll released on Tuesday, Dec. 15. It is the highest the Orange has been ranked in the year-end poll in program history.

Syracuse earned 541 points in the poll. National champion Stanford received 22 first-place votes and accumulated 598 points for the No. 1 spot. Clemson, which lost to the Cardinal in the national final, garnered one first-place vote and was second with 561 points, followed by national semifinalist Akron (550 pts.).

The Orange was among six Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) schools in the final poll. Wake Forest was fifth (499 pts.), while North Carolina was No. 9 (378 pts.). Boston College, which Syracuse defeated in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals, was No. 10 (366 pts.), followed by Notre Dame at No. 11 (351 pts.). In addition, Virginia was ranked No. 19 (155 pts.).

Syracuse advanced to the College Cup for the first time in program history in 2015. The Orange tied Clemson, 0-0, in the national semifinals, but the Tigers advanced to the title match by winning a penalty kick shootout. Syracuse also won its first ACC championship and finished the year with a 16-5-4 record. It marked the second consecutive year the Orange has posted 16 wins, which are just one shy of the single-season school record set in 1982.
