Track Announces 2015-16 Schedule

Coming off the 2014-15 season that saw a program record eight student-athletes qualify for the NCAA Championships and seven earn All-America accolades, the Orange track and field teams will kick off the 2015-16 campaign on Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Greg Page Relays in Ithaca, N.Y.
The meet will serve as the only competition of the fall semester, with the team returning to action over a month later at the Ramapo Opener in New York, N.Y. on Jan. 15.
'Cuse will continue action a week later at the Upstate Challenge at Cornell, which serves as one-of-five repeat events from last season which Syracuse will take part in.
The weekend of Jan. 29-30 will be a busy one for the Orange, as members of the programs will take part in three different events across the country. Part of the roster will head to the Penn State National, an event where Martin Hehir and Justyn Knight became the first-two runners in program history to run sub-four minute miles last season.
Syracuse will also be represented at the UW Invitational in Seattle, Washington and the Terrier Invitational in Boston, Massachusetts that weekend.
The team will also be split up the following weekend, as the Armory Invitational in New York, N.Y. will be held Feb. 5-6, while members of the 'Cuse distance program will compete in the U.S. Junior Cross Country Championships in Bend, Oregon.
The Orange is coming off a historic season in cross country season, where the men's team won its first National Championship in 64 years, while the women's team placed 12th at the meet, which was their second-best finish in program history.
Syracuse will return to familiar spots for the final-two weeks of the regular season, when 'Cuse heads back to Boston University for the BU Valentine Invite (Feb. 12-13) and Cornell for the Marc Deneault Invitational (Feb. 20) to close out the regular season.
The Orange will take on the ACC Indoor Championships Feb. 25-27 in Boston, Mass. Senior Shaina Harrison earned Syracuse's first female ACC Championship at the meet in Blacksburg, Virginia last season, while three others took the podium for the Orange.
Syracuse will compete in the IC4A/ECAC Championships on Feb. 25-27, which are also in Boston, Mass. before the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 11-12 in Birmingham, Alabama.
April 1 begins the outdoor campaign, with Syracuse taking to the Stanford Invitational. It was at this event last season that Hehir was the top collegiate finisher and second overall behind Nike's Juan Luis Barrios. Hehir's time of 28:27.70 bested a 33-year old school record by more than 15 seconds and was the second-fastest time nationally in the 10k last season.
That same weekend, Syracuse's sprinters will head to the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Florida.
On April 8-9, 'Cuse returns to Princeton's Sam Howell Invite, while others on the Orange will compete in the Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational. In Miami last season, Rebecca Robinson finished second in the 400-meters and eighth in the 200-meters, while Regine Hunter won the triple jump for 'Cuse.
The weekend of April 22-23 will serve as the busiest for the Orange this season as the track teams are set to compete in four different events. Syracuse will compete in the Virginia Challenge, Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational, the Auburn War Eagle and Cornell's Upstate Challenge that weekend.
The historic Penn Relays will come the following week, with action running from April 28-30, before Syracuse closes out its regular season that weekend at a pair of events. Members of the distance squad will return to Palo Alto, California to compete in the Payton Jordan Invitational, while others will compete at the Big Red Invitational in Ithaca, N.Y.
The ACC Outdoor Championships will once again be held in Tallahassee, Florida. It was at this site last season that Knight and Margo Malone each earned ACC Championships in the 1500 and 10,000-meters respectively.
Syracuse will then compete in the NCAA East Preliminary in Jacksonville, Florida from May 26-28 before returning to Eugene, Oregon for the NCAA Outdoor Championships June 8-11.
