Trudo and Dixon repeat as winners
Nine different members of the Orange – the second-most in the conference – earned All-ACC Academic honors, highlighted by repeat winners Rob Trudo and Riley Dixon.
Dixon, a senior punter majoring in accounting and Trudo, a junior guard majoring in economics, are joined by six other seniors and one freshman from Syracuse on this year on the 63-man ACC roster, which was chosen from a pool of 128 candidates.
Long snapper Sam Rodgers also made the cut for the award, adding to his list of accomplishments this season, which already included being named a CoSida Academic All-American and AFCA Good Works Team. Rodgers is a senior nutrition major.
All-ACC selections Sean Hickey and Cameron Lynch also received the honor. Hickey is a senior supply chain management major, who earned All-ACC Third Team honors while anchoring the 'Cuse offensive line. Lynch, an All-ACC Third Team linebacker is a senior economics major.
Hickey's line-mate, senior center John Miller, was selected for the honor as well. An information management major, Miller started eight games up front for the Orange this year only missing time due to injury.
The fourth offensive addition to the team, a redshirt-senior wide receiver who already obtained his undergraduate degree is Jarrod West. West, who is taking graduate classes in teaching and curriculum, finished his career ranking seventh on the all-time receiving yards list at Syracuse.
Another member of the Orange who already obtained his degree and made the all-academic team is senior defensive end Robert Welsh. Welsh, who is studying instructional design, started all-12 games for 'Cuse this season.
The lone freshman to earn the award was linebacker Zaire Franklin. Franklin led all rookies in tackles this season with 44, a mark that ranks sixth overall on the team.
