
Orange Tennis Loses First ACC Contest

The No. 53 Syracuse tennis team dropped its first ACC match on Saturday, snapping a three-match winning streak by falling 4-1 to No. 57 Boston College.
The Orange moved to 5-2 on the year with the loss.

'Cuse got off to a hot start, with Rhiann Newborn and Breanna Bachini defeating Katya Vasilyev and Emily Safron 6-4 and Komal Safdar and Valeria Salazar taking down Asiya Dair and Jennifer Ren 7-6 to seal the doubles point for Syracuse.
In singles, Breanna Bachini was leading her match at the time of completion, but the Eagles had already picked up four singles points to take the match.
"Our team competed extremely hard today as usual," said head coach Younes Limam. "We have a lot of players in our lineup that know how to win and doubles was a good example of that today. We will grow from this and keep working on getting better."
In singles play, Jessica Wacnik defeated Amanda Rodgers 7-6, 7-6, Lexi Borr beat Salazar 6-3, 7-6, Vasilyev defeated Newborn 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, and Dair took down Safdar 6-3, 6-2.
Jennifer Ren and Nicole Mitchell's match was also unfinished.
The Orange will continue ACC play next Saturday at Virginia.
