Orange Opens ACC Play Monday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. --Â No. 3/3 Syracuse will host No. 7/9 Virginia in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) opener for both squads on Monday, Feb. 23. Opening draw in the Carrier Dome is set for 6 p.m. Monday's contest is a rematch of last year's NCAA Tournament semifinal, which the Orange won, 16-8.

Individual game tickets for all Syracuse women's lacrosse home games can be purchased for $5. Fans can purchase a "Lax Pack" ticket package for $25, which includes 10 general admission tickets that can be used as a season ticket or as a group ticket package. Tickets are available online at Cuse.com and at the Carrier Dome Box Office located at Gate B.

What to Watch For – Syracuse (3-0)
1. Syracuse will open ACC play against Virginia for the second straight year. Last season, the Orange defeated the Cavaliers, 18-14, in its ACC debut. In its inaugural season in the ACC, Syracuse claimed a share of the regular-season title. The Orange and North Carolina tied for the top spot in the coaches
preseason poll, while Virginia was picked to finish fourth.
2. Syracuse has dominated in the draw circle in the first three games of the season. The Orange has recorded 58 draws compared to 35 for its opponents. Senior Kailah Kempney (Carthage, N.Y.) is a big part of Syracuse's success on the draw. She leads the team with 28.
3. Monday's game against the Cavaliers starts a stretch where Syracuse will face four teams ranked in the top 10 in its next five games.

What to Watch For – Virginia (1-1)
1. Virginia currently owns a 1-1 overall record on the season and is coming off a win against Richmond. The Cavaliers loss was a 6-5 setback to No. 5/5 Northwestern.
2. Liza Blue leads the team with six points so far this season on three goals and three assists. Casey Bocklet has also scored three goals and has posted two assists. Goalkeeper Rachel Vander Kolk has a total of 21 saves in two games with a save percentage of .525.
3. Julie Myers is in her 20th season as the head coach at Virginia. In each of her 19 years she has led her team to the NCAA Tournament, something no other Division 1 coach has done in the last 20 years.

THE SERIES
Virginia leads the all-time series with Syracuse, 11-6. The Orange swept the two meetings last season and has won three straight against the Cavaliers.
