Orange Hangs On to Top Spot in Polls

'Cuse No. 1 for second straight week
BALTIMORE – The Syracuse men's lacrosse team maintained its No. 1 ranking in the most recent of editions of the USILA Division I Top 20 and Cascade/Maverik Media polls. Both sets of rankings were released Monday, March 9.

The Orange is No. 1 for the second week in a row after defeating St. John's by the score of 14-6 Saturday at the 2015 Cobb County Classic in Kennesaw, Ga.

Syracuse earned 239 points and 11 of the 12 first-place votes cast in the USILA poll. North Carolina received the remaining first-place vote and checked in at No. 2 with 227 points. Denver (216 points) is third. Notre Dame (199 points) and Duke (199 points) are tied for fourth.

The top five teams are the same in the media rankings. Syracuse garnered 472 points and 19 first-place votes, followed by North Carolina (461 points, 5 first-place votes), Denver (432 points), Notre Dame (398 points) and Duke (394 points).

The Orange returns to action Saturday, March 14 when it hosts John Hopkins at the Carrier Dome. Faceoff is slated for 2 p.m. on ESPNU.
