Four Tickets Punched to NCAA Track and Field Championships

Orange well represented in the 10k
Four Syracuse student-athletes punched their tickets to Eugene, Oregon for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the first day of the NCAA East Regional on Thursday.
Margo Malone continued her stellar outdoor campaign, following up her ACC Championship in the 10k by cruising to a time of 33:49.45 and obtaining one of the 24 spots in the June 10 Championship race.

Malone finished fourth in the qualifying race, with the top-12 runners from the East Regional joining the top-12 from the West Regional to compete for an NCAA Championship.
Moments after Malone secured her berth in the field, the Syracuse men snatched three of the 24 spots in the men's 10k. Martin Hehir raced to a third-place finish (29:53.89) to lead the 'Cuse pack, while Max Straneva (30:08.10) finished ninth and ACC silver medalist Dan Lennon (30:09.95) took 12th to safely earn berths in the NCAA Championships field.

Shaina Harrison is another member of the Orange moving on, she qualified automatically for Friday's quarterfinal in the 100-meter dash, in which the top-12 will move on to Eugene.

Harrison sprinted to a time of 11.73 seconds, taking third place in her heat, automatically advancing her to Friday.
In addition to Malone and the trio of Syracuse men advancing on in the 10k, Jessie Petersen (35:11.21/22nd), Shaylyn Tuite (36:32.01/39th) and Maura Linde (36:51.39/42nd) in the women's race and Philo Germano (31:02.53/30th), Reed Kamyszek (31:14.47/36th) and Kevyn Hoyos (31:21.15/38th) on the men's side each fell shy of the cracking the top-12 and advancing.
In the women's 400-meters, Rebecca Robinson finished in 34th overall with a time of 53.95, falling short of advancing as well.
