Five Former Orange Named to MLL All-Star Roster

BOSTON – The Syracuse University men's lacrosse program will be well represented at the 2015 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) All-Star Game.

Former Orange standouts Casey Powell, Matt Abbott, JoJo Marasco, Joel White and John Galloway are among the 41 players in this year's all-star pool. Players will be divided into two teams by "MLL Ultimate Fan Fantasy" contest winners Hayden MacArthur and Ethan Sorkin and take the field in the league's annual showcase on June 13 at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston.

Powell, an attackman for the Florida Launch, is the reigning MLL Offensive Player of the Year. In five games this season, Powell is third on the Launch in scoring with 14 points (7 goals, 7 assists).

Abbott is in the midst of another stellar season for the Chesapeake Bayhawks. One of the best all-around midfielders in the sport, he has six goals, five assists and 10 ground balls on the year.

Marasco is one of 16 players who will be making his first all-star appearance. He has 10 goals and six assists as a midfielder for the undefeated New York Lizards. The Lizards are 7-0 and sit atop the MLL standings heading into this weekend.

This is the second straight all-star nod for White. A defenseman for the Rochester Rattlers, he is tied for the team lead in ground balls (23) despite playing in only four games.

Galloway, White's Rochester teammate, holds a 3-3 record with 90 saves. He was voted the MLL Goalkeeper of the Year in 2014.
