Five Named to ACC All-Academic Team

Syracuse's five honorees tied for the second-highest total for any school in the league.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Five members of the Syracuse women's lacrosse team have been named to the All-ACC Academic Team as announced by Commissioner John Swofford on Monday, June 22. Seniors Kelsey Richardson and Mallory Vehar, juniors Halle Majorana and Taylor Gait and sophomore Kaeli O'Connor are among the 32 honorees. The Orange's five selections tied for the second-highest total for any school in the league.

Richardson started every game in goal for Syracuse this season and finished third in the nation in saves with a career-best 184. She reached double figures in saves eight times, including a career-high 16 against No. 1 Maryland during the regular season. Her 29 saves in the ACC Tournament was one shy of the tournament record, which earned her a spot on the All-Tournament team.

Vehar started all 24 games on defense for the Orange and led the team with 27 caused turnovers. She also picked up 38 ground balls and won 10 draw controls. Vehar helped Syracuse hold its opponents to less than 10 goals in seven games. She was an All-Northeast Region First Team selection and earned a spot on the ACC All-Tournament Team.

Majorana tied for fifth in the nation in scoring in 2015 with 91 points on 55 goals and a team-high 36 assists. She earned IWLCA All-America First Team honors and was selected to the All-ACC First Team. Majorana posted 13 points in three games in the ACC Championship and was voted to the All-Tournament team. She recorded five or more points in 11 games this season.

Gait took the field for the first time this season after missing two years due to injury. She started the last 17 games of the season and finished the year with 29 points on 27 goals and two assists. Gait was one of two members of the Orange voted to the NCAA All-Tournament Team.

O'Connor started all 24 games on defense for Syracuse. She finished second on the squad with 50 draw controls to go along with 27 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers.

To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
