Jess Jecko returns for her senior season
This is the first of a four-part series previewing the 2015 Orange. In this series, Cuse.com will take a position-by-position look at the team.
Goalkeepers
Goaltending starts with experience for Syracuse, as senior Jess Jecko returns for her senior season after occupying the cage for nearly the entirety of the previous-two seasons.
Jecko has a career 1.46 goals against average and a .709 save percentage. She boasts a career-record of 32-10 and has six shutouts in her time with the Orange.
A local product of Saquoit Valley High School, Jecko closed her season on a hot streak posting a .761 save percentage during ACC and NCAA Tournament contests, helping the Orange to its first national title game appearance in program history.
Jecko was an NFHCA All-Region selection in 2013 and currently ranks sixth in program history in career goals against average.
Junior Regan Spencer and freshman Megan Evangelista are the other net minders on the 'Cuse roster competing with Jecko.
Spencer, a Midlothian, Va. native, has yet to see game action at Syracuse, but has stellar track record in her time before joining the Orange. Spencer was a member of the 2012 Virginia All-State First Team while competing at Cosby High School where she posted an incredibly .950 save percentage while holding a .231 goals against average as a senior.
Evangelista is another local product, hailing from Liverpool, N.Y. where she led the Warriors to a state championship appearance last season. A two-time All-New York State and three-time all-league honoree, Evangelista allowed just 19 goals in 16 games as a senior.
The Orange open the 2015 regular season at Stanford on Friday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. eastern.
