
Alseth and Malone Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Oyvind Alseth of men's soccer and Margo Malone of women's cross country are this week's Orange Scholar-Athletes of the Week.
Alseth is a junior finance major in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. The Trondheim, Norway native has tallied three goals so far on the 2015 season, averaging 1.13 points per game. In the Orange's latest win over Pittsburgh, the midfielder assisted on three of Syracuse's season-high five goals. Last season, Alseth socred the game-winning goal in the second round of the NCAA Tournament against Penn State, and was part of an Orange defense that recorded an ACC-best 12 shutouts.
Malone is a senior with a double major in nutrition science and biology. She took home a second-place overall finish at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational on Sept. 11, finishing with a time of 21:11. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native was named the Cross Country MVP at the 2014 'Cuse Awards, while also being named to the All-ACC Academic Team and All-Region Team that same season.
Malone and the cross country team will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 16, when they head to Madison, Wis. for the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational.
Alseth and the men's soccer team face in-state rival Colgate on Tuesday, Sept. 29, in Hamilton, N.Y., before resuming ACC play on Friday, Oct. 2 at Duke. Both games are set for 7 p.m.
