Rex Culpepper, Moe Neal and Kenneth Ruff join Orange
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse head football coach Dino Babers announced the addition of a trio of top prospects to the program on Monday, Jan. 18. Quarterback Rex Culpepper, athlete Moe Neal and linebacker Kenneth Ruff are enrolled at the University as part of the 2016 recruiting class and will participate in spring practice.
Â
"I'm very excited to welcome Rex, Moe and Kenneth to campus," Babers said. "Having them here a semester early for spring ball will be extremely beneficial to their development.
Â
"Rex is very talented and has excellent size for a quarterback. Moe is dynamic with the ball in his hands, both as a runner and receiver, and Kenneth is a physical player at the linebacker position."
Â
Rated three stars and the No. 42 pro-style quarterback in the Class of 2016 by 247Sports.com, Culpepper threw for 2,016 yards and 20 touchdowns as a junior to lead Plant High School (Fla.) to the 2014 Class 8A regional semifinals. He also rushed 49 times for 279 yards and six scores. Culpepper did not play his senior season due to injury.
Â
Neal was a four-year starter at running back for Forestview High School in North Carolina. Neal recorded 103 total touchdowns (68 rushing, 34 receiving, 1 KO return) in his scholastic career and was named to the All-Gaston Gazette First Team three times. As a junior in 2014, Neal was selected as the Big South 2A/3A Conference Offensive Player of the Year after recording 3,062 all-purpose yards, including 2,018 rushing yards, and accounting for 39 touchdowns.
Â
Ruff played linebacker and defensive end at Florida's Dillard High School. He is considered the No. 26 linebacker overall in the Class of 2016, by to Rivals.com and earned a three-star rating from ESPN, Rivals.com, Scout.com and 247Sports.com.
