DURHAM, N.C. - Syracuse (13-7, 3-4) upset No. 20 Duke (14-5, 3-3), 64-62, thanks in part to junior Tyler Roberson's third consecutive double-double on Monday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The win marks the Orange's third straight ACC victory.

Roberson racked up 14 points and a career-best 20 rebounds, the most ever for a visiting player at Cameron Indoor Stadium, including 12 offensive boards. He now ties the program record for most offensive rebounds in a game with 12, matching Billy Owens' record set on Dec. 29, 1990.

Grad students Michael Gbinije and Trevor Cooney along with freshman Malachi Richardson all registered 14 points, including a game-high four 3-pointers from Cooney. Gbinije dished out a game-high nine assists.

After holding each other scoreless for the first two minutes of the contest, Richardson struck first with a 3-point bucket at the 17:50 mark. The Orange continued to hold the Blue Devils scoreless for the next three minutes, with Duke finally getting on the board at the 14:41 mark.

The two teams battled back and forth, with the Orange erasing a five-point deficit off of a three from freshman Tyler Lydon and a layup by Gbinije to even it out at 16 apiece with 7:51 left in the half. A 3-point bucket from Cooney put Syracuse back on top with just over four minutes left to play, 21-18.

The Blue Devils started to get hot towards the end of the half, going on an 11-2 run to put Duke at a six point advantage with 1:26 left, 29-23. Another 3-point basket by Cooney, however, cut the Blue Devil lead down to three with six seconds left to finish the half with a 29-26 score.

Gbinije got things started for the Orange to kick off the second half with a layup and a three to knot it up at 33 just over three minutes in. Duke fought back with six unanswered points, but a subsequent 8-0 run by Syracuse capped with a 3-point bucket by Richardson put the score in the Orange's favor with 11:42 left, 43-41.

Four 3-pointers from Richardson, Cooney, Lydon, and Gbinije in a span of 3:16 put the Orange at its largest lead of the game, 59-51, with 5:23 left to play. A layup by Roberson kept the Blue Devils at a five-point distance with just under two minutes left in the game, 63-58.

A layup by Duke's Marshall Plumlee brought the Blue Devils within one with 34 seconds left in the contest, 63-62, but the Orange defense and a free throw by Richardson sealed a victory for Syracuse, 64-62.

Syracuse's road swing comes to an end when it travels to Charlottesville to take on Virginia on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 12 p.m.
