After a successful meet last weekend at Cornell, the Syracuse track and field team splits up this weekend to attend two different events. With distance runners heading to the Boston Terrier Invitational and the sprinters making their way to the Penn State Nationals, both familiar events for the Orange.
Last Time Out:
- The Orange won a number of events at the Cornell Upstate Challenge.
- Freddie Crittenden III (60-meter hurdles), Tia Thevenin (60-meter hurdles), Shaina Harrison (60-meters), Paul Lovell (800-meters), Sydney Leiher (1000-meters) and Mickey Burke (mile) each took home wins in their respective events.
Last Year's Boston Terrier Invitational:
-For the men's team: Joel Hubbard took first place in the mile, running a time of 4:00.8, while Colin Bennie finished 15th in the 3000m with a time of 8:07.25.
-For the women's team: The distance medley relay team (Haley Cutright, Gabrielle Kreuz, Molly Malone, and Margo Malone) ran to second place with a time of 11:33.01. While Rebecca Skodis (17:10.99/ 14th) and Fiona Hendry (17:27.71/ 18th) finished within the top-20 in the 5k.
Last Year's Penn State National:
-Both Justyn Knight and Martin Hehir ran sub-four minute mile, finishing 3rd and 4th in the event. Knight finished with a time of 3:59.51, while competing as unattached and Hehir, breaking a 14-year old school record, ran 3:59.81.
-For the women's team, the Orange took first place in the women's 4x400-meter relay. In the 3000 meters, Margo Malone took third place with a time of 9:26.85, and Maura Linde finished 10th (9:45.34). Fiona Hendry (7th/ 17:39.85) and Rebecca Skodis (9th/17:47.64) both finished within the top-ten in the 5k.
Looking ahead:
 - Syracuse is taking a large contingent of runners to each event, with the sprinters and jumpers heading to the Penn State National (after the distance group had a lot of success there last season) and the distance group heading to the first of their first of four meets in Boston this weekend.
