
Syracuse Ranks #13 Nationally in Coaches' Poll

Highest preseason ranking in program history
LILBURN, Ga. – The Syracuse women's basketball team is ranked No. 13 in the country in the Preseason USA Today Coaches Poll, as announced on Thursday afternoon. It marks the highest Syracuse has been ranked in a preseason poll in program history.
Syracuse returns four starters from last year's team that advanced to the 2016 NCAA Tournament final. Senior guard Alexis Peterson, a 2017 Nancy Lieberman Award candidate, and redshirt senior guard Brittney Sykes will look to spearhead the Orange this upcoming season.
The Orange were among five Atlantic Coast Conference programs ranked in the initial coaches' poll, joining No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 8 Louisville, No. 12 Florida State, and No. 20 Miami. Syracuse is set to take on six opponents that are currently ranked in the coaches' rankings, with the possibility of playing two more in the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla. in November.
The Orange open the season on Friday, Nov. 11 against Rhode Island. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m. in the friendly confines of the Carrier Dome.
