CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 18/18 Syracuse University women's basketball team closed the 2015-16 regular season with a 71-55 victory at Boston College on Thursday night. With the win, Syracuse matched its program record with 23 regular season victories and 13 conference wins.
Â
"It feels great," head coach Quentin Hillsman stated. "Our kids played at a tremendously high level. I thought we just came out in the second half, got matched up, and got our pressure going."
Â
Syracuse (23-6, 13-3) was dominant on the defensive end in its regular season finale at Boston College (14-14, 2-13). The Orange, the nation's leaders in forced turnovers, forced 33 turnovers on the night. SU also held its opposition scoreless for nearly 12 minutes in the second and third quarters.
Â
Senior guard Brianna Butler continued to etch her name in the record books. After a team-high 19 point-effort, she moved into fifth place on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,543 career points.
