
Peterson Earns All-ACC Accolades

Second career honor for the Columbus, Ohio native
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior guard Alexis Peterson earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference First Team honors from the Blue Ribbon Panel, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon. Peterson was one of six student-athletes to collect All-ACC accolades for the second straight season.

Peterson becomes the 10th player in program history to earn multiple all-conference accolades and the first to do so since Orange legend Kayla Alexander was recognized in three straight seasons.

The Columbus, Ohio native averaged 14.5 points, 5.2 assists, and 2.5 steals per game during the 2015-16 regular season. Peterson is one of five players nationally to register 14.5 points, 5.0 assists, and 2.5 steals per contest, thus far, this year.

She currently ranks second in the conference and 45th nationally in assists per game. The junior guard ranks fourth in the league and 41st in the country in steals per contest, as well.

In the season opener at Rhode Island on Nov. 13, Peterson recorded a personal-best 10 steals, setting a Syracuse single-game record. The junior guard notched eight steals in the opening 20 minutes of play, which was one shy of previous school record. She also dished out eight assists on the night.

In the squad's 86-51 thrashing of No. 12/12 Duke, Peterson put on a spectacular show. The junior guard notched 17 points and a career-high 13 assists. Peterson was two assists shy of tying the program single-game record. Even more impressive, the Columbus, Ohio product only turned the ball over twice.

Syracuse will kick off postseason play in the quarterfinals of the 2016 ACC Tournament on Friday, March 4. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. in Greensboro, N.C. The game will be broadcast on the Regional Sports Networks.
