Over the coming weeks, head coach Ange Bradley will announce Syracuse's incoming class for the 2016 season. Check back to Cuse.com to stay up to date with who will join the Orange to bolster its roster for another run at an NCAA title in 2016.
Katie Supey, a four-time Wyoming Valley Conference selection and an all-state selection in from Dallas, Pennsylvania, will join the Orange as a forward in 2016.
Â
"Katie is a welcome addition to our Syracuse family," said head coach Ange Bradley. "She is passionate dedicated and enjoys hard work. Katie loves the game of hockey and will play anywhere at anytime. She embodies our Syracuse hockey culture and I am proud to have her as part of our team. I look forward to watching her compete for a starting position on our forward line.Â
A two-sport athlete in field hockey and track and field, Supey led Lake Lehman to the state finals while posting 42 goals and 13 assists during her senior season, concluding an impressive turnaround for the Black Knights, which were 5-10 in her first season and improved every year with her before reaching the PIAA State Finals this past season.
"Katie is one of the most passionate players I've ever coached," said high school coach Jean Lipski. "She loves the game and thus works diligently to improve her game each time she takes the field."
Supey played club field hockey for Electric Surge FHC under head coach Lunda Comiskey, and chose to come to Syracuse because of its proximity to her hometown, its academic reputation and 'because it gave her the opportunity to play for the best team and coach in the nation.'
"It has always been a pleasure to coach Katie Supey," Comiskey said. "She has the desire and true grit that can be seen in her play all game. Many characteristics that Katie possesses are not ones that you can teach, which is what makes her unique. Her passion for the game of hockey is contagious. She will do absolutely anything for her team and will always put them first.
Supey is planning on majoring in education at Syracuse.
