
'Cuse Squares Off Vs. Eight NCAA Tourney Teams In 2016

SYRACUSE, N.Y.-Â The Syracuse women's soccer team will take on eight opponents that competed in the 2015 NCAA Tournament this season, including two matchups against College Cup opponents. Playing in the toughest conference in women's soccer, the Orange played against seven nationally-ranked teams last season before finishing 2015 with a 7-11-1 record.Â
Syracuse will open the 2016 campaign with nine non-conference matches before moving into Atlantic Coast Conference play. Of the 19 total games, the Orange will play at home for 10 of them, which includes their home opener on August 21 against Delaware. A full look of the 2016 schedule can be accessed here.
The Orange will start out the season on the road against local rival Colgate (8/19) before a 1 p.m. start at home against Delaware (8/21). Syracuse will stay at the SU Soccer Stadium for its next three contests when the Orange take on Army (8/26), Albany (8/28) and Bucknell (9/1). After the the four-game home stint, Syracuse will get back on the road for its next three with games against Cornell (9/4), Rhode Island (9/8) and Fairfield (9/11). Syracuse will complete non-conference play with a home contest against Buffalo on September 15.
Syracuse opens up ACC play at home against Notre Dame on Sepetember 18 before having to play its next three on the road. The Orange will have a tough stint when the squad travels to nationally-ranked Clemson (9/25) before taking on Miami (9/25) and 2015 national runner-up Duke (10/2). The Orange defeated Miami last season on a golden goal in double overtime before falling to Clemson by the final score of 1-0 despite outplaying the Tigers for majority of the contest.Â
After the three-game road trip, Syracuse returns home for its next three with two matches against 2015 NCAA Tournament opponents. The Orange take on a top squad in Virginia Tech (10/6) before playing 2014 National Champion and 2015 Final Four finalist Florida State on October 9. Syracuse will finish its three-game homestand with a matchup against Pittsburgh (10/16).
The Orange will play two of its final three regular-season contests on the road. After beating Wake Forest at home last season by the final score of 1-0, the Orange will battle the Demon Deacons on the road this season on October 20. Syracuse will come home for Senior Day on October 23 when the squad faces off against nationally-renowned North Carolina before ending its regular season on the road against Boston College (10/27).
