Manley and USA Field Hockey Stay Perfect
8/11/2016 8:16:00 PM | Field Hockey
Four games into the 2016 Olympics and perfection is still intact for Alyssa Manley and her USA field hockey squad.
The Americans downed India 3-0 on Thursday to move to 4-0 with just one game remaining in Group B play. Team USA has already secured a quarterfinal berth as of Wednesday's win, but Thursday's victory means that the U.S. can finish no worse than second in the group stage, with a win or a draw in Saturday's final group stage match giving the U.S. the top seed out of Group B.Â
Katie Bam scored twice for Team USA and Katie Reinprecht tacked on the third, while the defense held strong to keep the first U.S. clean sheet of the tournament.
USA will end group play on Saturday against Great Britain before the quarterfinals get underway on Monday.
