
Preferred Mutual 'Cuse Fan Fest Cancelled Due to Weather Forecast

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The 2016 Preferred Mutual 'Cuse Fan Fest scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 13 is cancelled due to the impending storms being forecast for Syracuse this weekend. The outdoor event cannot be held due to concerns for the safety of the participants and fans. The annual event usually features outdoor activities for fans of all ages, including interactive activities with Syracuse student-athletes, a men's soccer exhibition game, football intra-squad scrimmage, inflatable bouncy houses, selfie stations with Syracuse's NCAA trophies, Ernie Davis' 1961 Heisman Trophy and Syracuse legends, concessions stands and a season ticket holder BBQ.

The Syracuse Athletics Yard Sale will still be held in Manley Field House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All fans are invited to the sale, which will feature men's and women's apparel and equipment, including brands such as Nike and STX. Shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, several sports jerseys, basketball warm-ups and shorts, running shoes, basketball shoes, turf shoes, sandals and lacrosse equipment will be available. Only cash and credit cards will be accepted (no checks). Items will not be sold to wholesalers or distributors and are not to be resold. Parking is free in the Manley North and South lots. Attendees should enter Manley Field House through the Simmons Coaches Wing entrance on Comstock Avenue.

The 2016-17 Syracuse Athletics season kicks off at home with a women's soccer game against Delaware on Aug. 21 at the SU Soccer Stadium. The Orange men's soccer team will open its season on Aug. 26 at the SU Soccer Stadium and the women's volleyball team also begins its 2016 campaign Aug. 26 against Connecticut in the Women's Building.

The Orange football team opens the season at home on Friday, Sept. 2 against Colgate (7 p.m.) at the Carrier Dome. Season and individual game tickets are available online, by phone (1-888-DOMETIX), at Destiny USA kiosks and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B). Season tickets start at $99 ($16.50 per game) with lower-level seats in the end zones available for as little as $125. In addition, discounted group tickets (15 or more) for all home games can be purchased by calling 888-DOMETIX, option 2.

The defending national champion Syracuse field hockey team has its first home game Sept. 9 against Boston College.
