Kerpestein Places Sixth at World Championships

One of three Orange at the World Rowing Championships
ROTTERDAM, Netherlands – Incoming freshman Pieter Kerpestein of the Syracuse University men's rowing program placed sixth at the 2016 World Rowing Junior Championships with the Netherlands coxed eight crew.
The Dutch boat covered the 2,000-meter course in 5:59.590 on Sunday.
Kerpestein was not the only Orange competing at the World Rowing Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Rising junior Mike Glaude and rising sophomore Nick Tavares participated in the U23 competition for the United States and Canada, respectively.
Glaude and partner Michael Yaron placed 15th in the men's double sculls competition. In the third-level final on Thursday, the American pair finished in 6:45.600, less than one second behind Estonia.
In the men's coxed four, Tavares and his Canadian teammates finished in ninth place. In the second-level final on Thursday, the Canadians registered a time of 6:18.990, less than two seconds behind eighth-place Germany.
