Andrew White has joined the Syracuse men's basketball program. A transfer student from Nebraska, White is immediately eligible for the Orange.
White, a 6-6 guard, averaged 16.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while starting all 34 contests at Nebraska last season. He scored in double digits in 28-of-34 games, including a career-best 35 points versus Penn State in a Cornhusker victory. White had three double-doubles during the year -- at Creighton (28 points-10 rebounds), Samford (17-11) and at Illinois (21-13). Nebraska was 16-18 a season ago.
White was named the top male newcomer of the year at Nebraska and was also selected as a Nebraska Student-Athlete Hero Leadership Award winner. He earned Honorable-Mention All-BIG Ten from the league's coaches and media.
Prior to attending Nebraska, White played for two seasons at Kansas (2012-13, 2013-14). He transferred to Nebraska after the 2013-14 campaign and then sat out a year with the Cornhuskers.
He was a prep standout at the Miller School (Va.) and was named the Virginia State Player of the Year in 2011-12. He averaged 22.9 points and 10.0 rebounds as a senior.
