Orange Ranked No. 6 in Preseason Coaches Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Syracuse will begin the 2016 campaign ranked No. 6 by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). The Orange earned 465 points in the preseason coaches poll, which was released on Tuesday, Aug. 2.

Syracuse is one of five ACC schools ranked in the top 10. Overall, seven teams from the league are ranked in the preseason top 20. Defending national champion Stanford was picked No. 1, followed by Akron and Clemson. Maryland earned the No. 4 spot, while Wake Forest is No. 5. In addition, North Carolina is No. 8 followed by Notre Dame at No. 9.

The Orange return seven starters from last year's squad that posted the most successful season in school history. Syracuse claimed its first ACC Tournament title and advanced to the College Cup for the first time in program history. The Orange were ranked No. 4 in the final 2015 coaches poll after posting a 16-5-4 record.

Syracuse will take on New Hampshire on Saturday, August 13 in the first of three exhibition matches in preparation for the 2016 season. Match time is set for 4 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium and is part of the annual Preferred Mutual 'Cuse Fan Fest, which takes place from 3-8 p.m.
