ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Syracuse senior offensive lineman Jamar McGloster has accepted an invitation to play in the 2018 East-West Shrine Game. McGloster is the 77th Orange player to receive an invitation to the nation's longest-running senior all-star game and fifth in the last six seasons.
Â
A two-year starter at right tackle, McGloster was second on the Orange in 2017 with 1,034 snaps played. He tallied 12 knockdown blocks and aided a Syracuse offense that currently ranks eighth nationally in first downs (293), 17th in passing (294.8) and 25th in total offense (456.3).
Â
McGloster joins an elite list of football greats who have played in the East-West Shrine Game. Past participants include Tom Brady, John Elway, Brett Favre, as well as Syracuse Pro Football Hall of Famers Marvin Harrison, Larry Csonka, Art Monk and 1961 Heisman Trophy winner Ernie Davis.
Â
Played every year since 1925, the East-West Shrine Game benefits the Shriners Hospitals for Children, an international pediatric specialty health care system that treats children in orthopedics, spinal cord injuries, cleft lift and palate, and burns, regardless of the families' ability to pay.
Â
The game's 93rd edition will be held Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. It will be televised on NFL Network.
